We had our despedida (since Maria Eugenia and I are already leaving the next day) at Moyo's. The place was recommended by Maria from Spain and we're sooooooooo glad that we went there. It was the best dinner we ever had! The food, the place, service...Quite expensive but it was a perfect dinner to end our stay in Durban. It's located in UShaka Marine Park. There are thick blankets in each of the chairs for the guests bec. it was so cold since Moyo's just along the shore. The following photos are courtesy of Sue Dudd of Uppsala University

for everyone

Is it just me or this is how any first-time traveller feels? This is not my first time to ride a plane, no. But the long hours of waiting-time in the airport, traveltime (manila-hongkong-johannesburg-durban), me travelling alone to South Africa (i have this big time fear of not finding a cab from the airport to the hotel), and the bad weather, are enough to keep me kinda insane. Parang gusto kong magdala ng isang botika, just in case umatake na naman mga allergies ko. Diosmio! Me eyebags na nga ata ako, hahahaa. I couldn't even concentrate on finishing my powerpoint presentation. My officemates, who are already pros when it comes to international conferences, say that people there are not as harsh as Filipinos. Di ka daw nila chachakahin, hahaha. Well, Durban naman daw is the industrial/leisure center of SA. And I'm excited to see the Indian Ocean. Wala lang. Hehehe. Kase the hotel where I will stay is along the beach area. Cool.

I'm grateful with this opportunity. I actually prayed for this. Not exactly this one, but this is more than what I expected. This is already the 2nd time in this year that I got accepted to speak in a international conference. But IFLA gave me funding assitance I badly need. I feel elated din whenever people from the library profession would congratulate me for this. Kaaliw. As how I explain this event to my non-librarian friends, "para itong worldcup ng mga librarians and information professionals"...hahaha

Sabi nga ni Prof. Mac: So there! Well, atleast Jo-Anne will lend me her copy of HP7 (yipee!!). Wish me luck!
